All Awards received from the Garden Club Federation of Massachusetts (GCFM) unless otherwise noted.

  • 1967 Civic Beautification – The island area in front of Lavender and Dunkin Donuts (no longer maintained by us), $200 from Sears Roebuck

  • 1970 Citation – Beautification $15.00 from Sears Roebuck

  • 1974 Citation – Garden Therapy

  • 1978 Award of Appreciation – Garden Therapy

  • 1980 National and State Awards – Flower Show, Silver Bowl and Certificate of Achievement

  • 1990 Bay State Award – Flower Show

  • 1991 State Award and President’s Bowl “Overall Excellence in Civic Development Projects"

  • 1992 Club of Distinction Award

  • 1994 Club of Distinction Award

  • 1995 Club of Distinction Award

  • 2015 National and State Awards – Civic Beautification, Boutwell House Gardens, certificate and silver plate

  • 2016 Barbara May Website Award for a medium-sized club. Our website also received a first-place award from the National Club.

  • 2018 Civic Development Award for Landscaping a Public Building

  • 2018 Certificate of Merit for planting Arbor Day trees, and the design and installation of new landscape at the Groton Fire Station

  • 2022 The following awards were received for the 2021 Annual Public Lecture: Natural Control of Pesky Invasive Plants 

    • Patricia Dennett Grant Award – for a community outreach program in ecology, conservation, or horticulture education. This includes a grant of $500.

    • The Public Relations award for publicity and reaching a large segment of the community.

  • 2022 Barbara May Website Award for the Groton Garden Club Website

  • 2022 Yearbook Award

  • 2023 Publications Award for our GGC Postcard

  • 2023 The LaVerne R. Collard Wildflower Award for the Native Garden at Town Hall.

  • 2024 Awards from the Garden Federation of Massachusetts:

    • Community Beautification - The Mary F. Brewer Roadside Beautification Award for “100 Natives for 100 Years” plantings.

    • Publications Award for for Gardening for One Hundred Years 1923-2023 history book.

    • The Mitzi Belitsky Youth Activities Award for GGC members reading to preschoolers during our 100 Years projects.

    • Conservation + Environmental Awards Conservation Category for completing a project in conservation demonstrates outstanding leadership-municipal gardens category.

  • 2024 Awards from the National Garden Clubs Inc.:

    • MAE-4 Publications Certificate of Merit for Gardening for One Hundred Years 1923-2023 history book  

    • CE-6 Community Project with Native Plants/Wildflowers for “100 Natives for 100 Years”

    • CE-8 Landscaping of Public or Religious Grounds for “100 Natives for 100 Years”

    • YW-8 Horticulture Education for Youth for reading to the preschoolers

  • 2024 Award from the New England Garden Clubs, Inc.:
